Sysinfo screencast

I “recorded” the latest Sysinfo 0.7beta4 in action with Byzanz desktop recorder. It’s a gif animation, quite a large file 9.2Mb and the quality is not the best, meaning the colors are not good. But it’s a nice way to show the Sysinfo functionality to people who didn’t try it or see it yet.

Sysinfo demo

My suggestion is to download the file manually and then open it with web browser. Or not, whatever you want.

That is kick ass! The screencast looks great and gets the point across really quite well. I’ve tried Byzanz with not much luck…

Curious, this is written in Mono, right? How many lines of code? Do you think it would be something a newcomer to Mono could study the code of to learn Mono? :)

He he, thanks. What was your issue with byzanz ? You simply add it to Gnome panel and navigate from there.

Yup Sysinfo is written in Mono, the C# syntax. It’s around 4000 lines of code right now. And yeah you could use it to learn Mono, but I think my code is not so clean and tidy to be a good example to a newcomer…
You’ve got many many nicely written tutorials/guides on mono-projet page and you can use gnomedev.com forums for questions.

You should definitely try to learn Mono, it’s so much fun. :)
