Yup Sysinfo is written in Mono, the C# syntax. It's around 4000 lines of code right now. And yeah you could use it to learn Mono, but I think my code is not so clean and tidy to be a good example to a newcomer...
You've got many many nicely written tutorials/guides on mono-projet page and you can use gnomedev.com forums for questions.

You should definitely try to learn Mono, it's so much fun.  :)</description>
