So what’s new ?
Came back from my vacation, it’s good to be home, feeling good, ready for new challenges
New from Compiz:
Compiz now with support for window decoration theming, a new cgwd(custom generic window decorator) now replaces the old gnome-window-decorator, thanks goes to Quinn. Meaning you can simply create/modify window decoration themes with gcompizthemer(found in quinns cvs). Here is an example of Vista lookalike window decoration with a nice button glow effect.
Yeah I know, Vista look on Linux desktop… it doesn’t fit. It’s just an example of what can be done.
A new GNOME Main Menu:
Could “slab” become a new default GNOME menu maybe ? Comming from Novell developers used in upcoming Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop. The idea is not really new(WindowsXP start menu design), but it’s good to see something like this on Linux desktop, the thing is really usable and fairly customizable. Source can be found in GNOME cvs under slab module.
